How much does a co-signer affect your interest rate on a car loan?
uscjessie asked:
I have really bad credit – an early lesson learned. It is on the rebound ( I am paying off my collections one by one). I am out of school and have a ton of student loan debt. I wanted to drive my current car longer but it is giving out on me. I can’t get a decent car loan because of my credit. My current car payment is $250 a month and I have no problem paying it with my income. I ran into some major financial trouble 2 years ago and was 60 days late 3 times in a row. Since then, I am out of college, have a good job… etc. Anyway, a relative has offered to co-sign for me. How do the creditors determine what interest rate to charge? And, if I pay my secured credit card bills on time, how long would it be before I could refinance to get the co-signers name off?

How do I provide for my son with bad credit?
Sarah asked:
When I was 18 I messed up pretty bad with a credit card and a car loan. I ended up getting sick and losing both of my jobs and incurred all of the medical bills. I have never been able to pay them off. I ended up getting married 2 years ago and I still haven’t paid off my debt because I felt guilty about my husband having to pay off my debt when it wasn’t his to deal with. Anyways. I have about $10,000 in debt between everything, and I haven’t worked in a year because I’ve been a stay at home mom. Unfortunately my husband and I are planning on filing for a divorce when we get back to the states next May, and I am so worried that I will not be able to even get an apartment or even a job because of my credit and because I haven’t had a job and I don’t pay the bills. We live in Navy housing so we don’t have to worry about any bills other than the phone and cable.
I realize this is my own fault and I want desperately to take responsibility.
As I stated, I don’t feel right about using my husband’s money to fix my debt…. I’ve been looking for a job for a few months now, but where we are stationed it is very difficult to find any type of job. It took me 7 months to find one before I got pregnant and became a stay at home mom. We leave next May and I am terrified I will be living in a cardboard box. ANY ADVICE?

Should I refinance now? Or will fed rate cuts (I hear there will be more) drop the mortgage rates more?
pdogmurphy asked:
This is not a jumbo loan, and I talked to a mortgage guy who quoted me at 5.5 – 5.75%. Just not sure if it’ll go down more.
