If there was a large asteroid heading toward the earth, and we had a chance to blow it up?

Glen D asked:

before destroying the earth, which of following would Republican Party leadership say, to stop funding of a massive program to save the earth?

A. It would cost too many trillions of dollars, not worth it
B. Not worth it, it would burden future generations with massive debt
C. It would promote big government and both Socialism and Fascism at the same time.
D. The national government must not deal with the problem, there are better state or local solutions
E. Since there is only 50% chance that Earth will be destroyed, do not worry about it.
F. No problem, we’re glad that final destruction has come, we’re ready to die.
G. (Could it be all of the Above, for most Conservatives?)
Of course this is not a IF’ question, it’s very likely that someday a large meteor will hit the eart.
It’s also true that blowing it up in space will create hundreds of smaller particles, but the althernative would be worse.

If blown up far enough out, many of the smaller parts, would not hit the earth, better than the whole thing wiping us all out, right?

Taking care of life on earth should be first priority, not taxation or debts.
You cannot put a dollar tag on one live, yet alone 300,000,000 or 7 trillion lives.
Right?
Solutions, or excuses?
WE need solutions, for all earthly and and national health problems, not excuses, right?
