Debt consolidation for credit cards?

txredhd asked:

My husband and I together have quite a bit of credit card debt that was managable until just recently with extra child support payments and decreases in salary. Has anyone ever consolidated their credit card debt? If so, how did it work? Did it make your payments considerably lower? And who did you use to consolidate? Any help would be great. Thank you!

I have maintaned on time payments with that since I have had it as well as a cell phone bill. $7,000 loan with bad credit?

Chris asked:

I don’t have great credit, and my ‘99 Ford Ranger is slowly deteriorating. As soon as it dies I’m going to have a hard time making it places around town without borrowing my parent’s cars. I was reading CNN.com today and saw that through a stimulus package the government is offering a FULL tax credit on a low-speed (top 25 mph) electric car. However, I would need to purchase it before December 31st, 2009 in order to qualify for the tax credit. Unfortunately, while at college I made some poor financial decisions and am left with sub-par credit. Is there any way to get this vehicle in this short amount of time? I think it would be great to have an environment friendly car like that and depending on the leg work I’m prepared to do the homework necessary to obtain one. Any ideas or directions?
If you go to the front page you’ll see that the tax credit they’re offering is for the sales price of the electric car. I’m not really sure what the first two responses have to do the with the situation.

Debt consolidation ads. Are they legit?

Elizabethan asked:

I’ve noticed those debt consolidation commercials, but I’m very suspiscious of them because they advertise and try to push you into using them, but why. I believe many of them are a rip off. Does anyone know of any debt consolidation companies they’ve used that didn’t rip you off?

A car loan with no credit?

Paris asked:

I’m nineteen, and I work about 25-30 hours a week making an average of 200 a week, so 800 per month. I found a car I want to buy for 5000, but the problem is I only have 3000. Do you think it would be impossible for me to get a 2K loan without a cosigner?

At this point I don’t care about the interest rates and what not. I know the car is good and i’d be buying it off a trusted family member so there’s nothing hidden in it. I tried looking for cheaper cars, but i’ve wasted time and money by having a mechanic look at them. Half the time I was being scammed, and a mechanic I hired even purposely told me a car I was looking at was bad then offered to try to sell me one of his.
I DO NOT LIVE WITH MY PARENTS DO NOT SUGGEST FOR ME TO GET ONE OF THEM TO COSIGN, THANKS!

How do I get a loan even with bad credit and collateral?

harvick4me asked:

I screwed up my credit when I was younger, and now I want to try and fix it, but can’t seem to get started. I had a cosigner on a loan and they said that would help build my credit, well it didn’t. I wasn’t late on payments and payed the loan off a year early and still no help from that company. Now I have a nice car to use for collateral so I can try and get one on my own and still can’t get a loan. They all say my collateral is good and I make enough money but my credit is so bad they don’t want to lend to me. I don’t understand i’m so frustrated, I am trying to build it back up but can’t. I was always told if I had something to use for collateral then I could get a loan. Please help with any ideas or advice. Thanks!

Debt Consolidation Loan?

Safety Girl asked:

I purchased a manufactured home about 2 years ago and I am making my mortgage and lot rental payments. I have a 15 year mortgage.I have a lot of credit card debt ( I pay about $900 a month in minimum payments). I would like to consolidate this into one payment so I feel like even if I am living pay check to pay check I am doing ok and pay them off and close the account. only want one card with a low credit limit. Plus the interest rates are high. I have good credit (approximate score 685-710 at last check) never made a late payment, or missed a payment no bankruptcy etc. So my question is should I be able to get a consolidation loan without a co-signor and is this the way to go. I would like to also purchase a new car (lease is up and need to get a new one) should I roll this all into together or do seperate loans and will that even be possible. Any guidance would be helpful thanks.
