Can my mom cosign my student loans if she filed for bankruptcy?

Chae asked:

I’m not sure if it was last year or the year before last, but one of them my mom filed for bankruptcy and I was wanting to know if she could still cosign my student loans. I’m going with Chase if that helps.

Just FYI, no try FAFSA, or get grants, or Federal loans, or see your financial aid office. I’ve already done all of that. Privet loans are my last option. Ty.

In need of personal loan to finish school – $15-20,000 – and pay bills until RN degree 6/07. Bad credit. Help?

rn6807 asked:

My ex-husband left me with huge debt, so I filed bankruptcy about 4 years ago. I am 50ish and went back to school for RN degree. Almost there but financially I’m in bad straights. No credit cards; only debt is rent, car, insurance (car/health) and my half of household expenses. Live with my cousin, who had been carrying me until she was hurt in car accident and unable to work for about a year – she’s borrowed from family and credit wrecked thanks to dispute with insurance company. It is a long, long story. Anyway, I will be making excellent money after graduating in June, so after a year I would be able to get a loan through a bank/credit union and pay off debt. In the meantime, I would gladly pay someone 7% on the monies, which is more than you could make in CD, etc. We are to the point of losing the home, and anything I can do to ease this burden and get my degree would be a miracle. Any help out there?
