I screwed up my credit when I was younger, and now I want to try and fix it, but can’t seem to get started. I had a cosigner on a loan and they said that would help build my credit, well it didn’t. I wasn’t late on payments and payed the loan off a year early and still no help from that company. Now I have a nice car to use for collateral so I can try and get one on my own and still can’t get a loan. They all say my collateral is good and I make enough money but my credit is so bad they don’t want to lend to me. I don’t understand i’m so frustrated, I am trying to build it back up but can’t. I was always told if I had something to use for collateral then I could get a loan. Please help with any ideas or advice. Thanks!

I am looking for a loan that is around $6000 to $8000 to consolidate some bills, but my credit score is around 529. I have a lien free car worth about $10000 that I could use as collateral, but I am looking for something with a 2 or 3 yr payoff term, not a title pawn. Also, I live in Ga. Any suggestions of companies that could help? Thanks!
