After having been wrongfully terminated August of last year, and being out of work for nearly 4 months with no income, my car was repossessed. On top of owing close to $15,000 for that, I owe for a cell phone bill, as well as 4 credit cards, one of which I got to help out while I was out of work. Are there any other options to get myself out of debt without spending years and more money than actually owed to avoid filing bankruptcy? Some of these credit cards have gone up 4 times the amount that was initially owed. One of my major concerns is that I was paying the payment protection plan and none of the companies honored it. I would have easily been able to pay my debt had they honored the payment protection plan. I could dispute that and get the amount owed down to the actual amount, but where does that leave me with paying off a car I don’t have? Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m only 26 and the last thing I want to do is file bankruptcy.
I’m furthering my education and do not wish to have such poor credit for the next 7 years. How will I be able to afford rent, a car, and paying this debt off while going to school?

I’m can’t afford full coverage insurance anymore and I’m not giving back car…I can trade cars with friend. they wont find….but when they Sue could I go to jail if I don’t pay settlement or can I file bankruptcy …

I talked to my recruiter and he said Navy would still enlist people who filed bankruptcy but will likely get hard time getting security clearance…i am okay with jobs w/o clearance anyway. My question is after i file Bankruptcy would they still processed me in MEPS while waiting for my court order to be discharged on my debts or let say after i get processed in MEPS then i file my bankruptcy while waiting for bootcamp? (am i allowed to do that?) Theres no way i can avoid filing bankruptcy and i really want to join the navy as soon as possible. Thanks

They have even started calling my parent’s home which I haven’t live in for almost 20 years! They are in their late 80’s and can’t handle the constant calling!

Should I just tell the company that I am filing for bankruptcy? How can that work against me? Or should I just keep avoiding their calls?

I am going to file chapter 7 bankruptcy in Maryland and I have a joint credit card between myself and my son. What I would like to do is keep the credit card so I still have something for emergencies after I file bankruptcy. Do I have to list the joint account when filing bankruptcy? Because I would like to keep it open and keep making the payments as usual, and if I did list it could that effect my sons credit, even if he makes the payments, since he is joint on the account?
