Has anyone successfully done a transfer of equity on a car loan?

After talking to the bank, my options are either voluntary surrender, or a transfer of equity (if I can find someone who would qualify). So my question is, is there anyone who has done this? And how good does the person’s credit have to be? Also, I’m wondering if I stay on as a cosigner if someone with bad credit can be added? Any info would be great.
